InterPlanetary Warfare Setup Last Updated: 1/27/95
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setting up Inter-Planetary warfare in BRE involves a very simple process.
In general (with exceptions), it requires an external netmail system such
as Frontdoor, Binkley, or Dbridge.
NOTE: The samples files referred to are in your BRE\SAMPLES directory.
NOTE: The ROUTE.CFG, BBS.CFG, and BRNODES.DAT files should be in
your main BRE directory.
The first thing you must do is choose whether you wish to be a member of a
league or a Coordinator of a league.
All:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daily Maintenance: run BRE PLANETARY
- This can be run multiple times during the day to speed up processing
of inbound and outbound mail, but in general, should be run a
minimum of once per day.
- If running before and after each user plays, you may run BRE FULL
instead of BRE in your normal game batch file.
Look at ROUTE.SAM if you want to Route Mail, set mail on CRASH priority,
or set mail on HOLD priority
If you'd like Inter-Planetary Scores Bulletins created, then run
BRSCORES.EXE
Use RESOURCE.DAT [See RESOURCE.DOC] file and set all your parameters
to customize your game
If you are joining a league:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Find a coordinator whose game you wish to join. There are generally
several local, national, and international leagues available.
Set up a BBS.CFG file (See BBS.SAM for format) and be sure to
get your league number from your league coordinator.
This can be done easily by using "BRE IPSETUP".
Give your BBS Information [BBS Name, Fido Address, City, State, Country]
to the League Coordinator.
Get a copy of the BRNODES.DAT [Nodelist] from the Coordinator.
If you are becoming a Coordinator:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Select a League number (1-999) and create your BBS.CFG - See
BBS.SAM for format. Do not worry about if another game is going
on with the same league number. The only importance of the League
Numbers is if one BBS is participating in multiple leagues - the
league numbers of those leagues MUST be different.
The BBS.CFG can be created either by using "BRE IPSETUP" or a text
editor.
Read NODEFORM.INF to see the format of the nodelist. BRNODES.DAT should
be maintained by you and you *MUST* be BBS #1 in the League. When others
join the league, you should add them to the nodelist, and give the new BBS
a copy of it. BRE will automatically send updated nodelists to all other
nodes [and the new one, but it may take a while]. You may use BRE NODELIST
to create a nodelist also (if you don't like messing with text files).
Also: Coordinators, you may wish to consider getting BBS's from Long
Distance areas to join the league rather than a bunch of local systems.
Although this has the disadvantages of LD Costs (Small), it allows you
to play against a variety of players rather than having the same gamers
on the other BBS's!
Also #2: Due to the fact that your system will produce a piece of mail for
each BBS in your league every time the BRNODES.DAT is updated, you may wish
to consider asking some systems to poll you daily and you put your mail on
HOLD status. You also may wish to consider routing mail through hubs to
decrease data flow. (See ROUTE.SAM)
Transferring Coordinatorship
----------------------------
If you would like to hand over the job of coordinatorship in your league
to another BBS, you must copy the COORD.KEY file to the BRE directory of
the new BBS and make him BBS #1 in the BRNODES.DAT file.

Enjoy the game! It requires very little maintenance, and we tried to
make it as user friendly as possible! If you have any problems, notify
Mehul Patel at Solaria City (1:106/900 / 713-855-1665) and we'll try to
help out as soon as possible.
